Nigel Hutton MP, State Member for Keppel, is seeking a motivated and digitally savvy Assistant Electorate Officer to join the Keppel Electorate Office team. This part-time role is available as a 9-day fortnight or 3–4 days per week offering flexibility while allowing you to play a pivotal role in the daily operations of the Keppel office.

This fast-paced position involves managing social media, drafting communications, engaging with constituents and community groups, participating in community service activities and events, and providing high-level administrative support. Ideal candidates will be organised, creative, and confident using digital tools to drive engagement.If making a difference in your community matters to you, this role offers a unique opportunity to have a real impact across Queensland

Key Objectives

  • Media and Communications – including strategic social media management, content creation and general comms.
  • Provide exceptional secretarial and administrative support.
  • Foster strong relationships by supporting and engaging with constituents and community groups.

Your Role

  • Assist in the operation of the electorate office alongside the Electorate Officer.
  • Lead the office's social media strategy, including content planning, creation, scheduling, and community engagement reflecting the Member's priorities and community initiatives.
  • Engage with community, including organising and attending events and outreach to constituents and community groups.
  • Support Nigel's campaigns on local issues and collaborate on statewide campaigns. 
  • Support Nigel's public-facing communications such as media and newsletters.

What We're Looking For

  • Highly organised with a forward-thinking mindset, capable of juggling multiple priorities.
  • A proactive problem-solver, known for creativity, adaptability, and excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media channels in a professional setting, with a strong understanding of tone, timing, and audience engagement.
  • Proficiency with digital tools and basic video editing software.
  • Ability to interpret analytics and performance metrics to refine content strategy and boost reach.
  • Skilled in drafting messaging and digital content that is clear, compelling, and aligned with the Member's voice.
  • A solid grasp of the Queensland political landscape and current affairs is beneficial but not essential.
