Queensland Parliamentary Service is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join the Parliamentary Service as the Sergeant-at-Arms and Head of Security. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of Members of Parliament, staff, and visitors across the Parliamentary precinct and 97 Electorate offices statewide along with the ceremonial duties required within parliament as the Sergeant-at-Arms and Head of Security. You will drive cultural and organisational change, lead critical security initiatives, and uphold ceremonial traditions within the Parliament.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver strategic safety and emergency advice to Members of Parliament, their staff, and Queensland Parliamentary Service employees.
  • Liaise and build strong inter-agency relationships, including the Queensland Police Service.
  • Manage training programs for emergency and security procedures across precinct and Electorate offices.
  • Respond to major incidents, assess escalation requirements, and deliver expert support.
  • Perform ceremonial duties associated with the role of Sergeant-at-Arms.
  • Provide expert advice and lead cultural and organisational change aligned with the Queensland Parliamentary Services values.

Required Skills:

  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing large teams, and a variety of stakeholders.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills for effective liaison, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Expertise in security risk assessment, crisis management, and co-ordinating inter-agency responses.
  • Proven ability to design and implement operational procedures that deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Advanced analytical and decision-making capabilities.
