The role includes document preparation, research tasks, correspondence management and general office support. Ideal candidates will have strong Microsoft Office skills, excellent communication abilities, proven organisational capability and experience working with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. The Queensland Parliamentary Service is seeking two highly organised casual Executive Assistants to join our team. Working within the parliamentary precinct, you'll play a key role in delivering high‑quality administrative and support services to Members, helping ensure the smooth operation of parliamentary business.

You will be required to work during parliamentary sitting weeks for four days, Monday through Thursday. There are approximately 13 sitting weeks per year. The hours of work on a parliamentary sitting day are from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Key Objectives

  • Provide professional, accurate, and timely administrative support to Members of Parliament.
  • Deliver high‑quality document preparation, research assistance, and correspondence management.
  • Support daily office functions to ensure efficient workflow within the parliamentary precinct.

Your Role

  • Prepare and edit a range of documents including questions/motions, speeches, briefs, media releases and correspondence.
  • Liaise with Electorate Offices regarding printing, signing, mailing and document requirements.
  • Conduct general research such as sourcing speeches, statements and parliamentary documents.
  • Manage administrative tasks including printing, scanning, emailing and message delivery within the precinct.
  • Provide responsive, professional customer service to Members of Parliament and colleagues.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in an administrative support role or similar environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including intermediate word processing and confidence using Excel.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare polished correspondence from brief instructions.
  • Proven organisational ability, with experience managing competing priorities and working with minimal supervision.
  • High level of discretion, professionalism and the ability to liaise effectively with Members and staff.
  • Initiative, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness and capacity to learn about the role and functions of the Queensland Parliamentary Service.
