Do you have a strong eye for detail and a passion for publishing, technology and public record? Are you looking for a fast‑paced role where your work directly supports parliamentary transparency and access to information?

The Parliamentary Reporting and Broadcasting Service (PRBS) is seeking a capable and motivated Publishing and Monitoring Officer to support the high‑quality production, distribution and archiving of parliamentary transcripts and reports in both print and electronic formats. You will also assist in delivering reliable audio‑visual broadcasting services for proceedings of the Legislative Assembly, Parliamentary Committees and other parliamentary events.

This is a part time role, wokring 3 days (21.75 hours) per week. 

Key Objectives

  • Support the efficient production and publication of parliamentary transcripts and reports.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency and accessibility of published parliamentary material.
  • Assist in delivering reliable audio‑visual broadcasting services for parliamentary proceedings.

Your Role

  • Prepare, format and publish reports of parliamentary proceedings in print‑ready and electronic formats, including the use of hyperlinks, timestamps and statistics markers.
  • Make approved editorial corrections to proof reports and format material for final publication and archiving, ensuring consistency of style and presentation.
  • Provide advice to the Chief Reporter on publication costs, quality and timeliness.
  • Respond to inquiries from Members of Parliament and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with the development and improvement of production techniques using various software packages.
  • Liaise with parliamentary staff at all levels, Members and external clients.
  • Archive electronic transcripts to ensure security, integrity and retrieval capability.
  • Convert and format hard‑copy and electronic documents from other systems for publication.
  • Assist in operating the audio‑visual broadcast console for the Legislative Assembly and Parliamentary Committees.

Operational Requirements

  • Ability to work additional hours and, in practice, perform the role on a full‑time basis during sitting weeks.
  • Availability to work late into the night during sitting weeks.
  • Participation in a rotating roster to work up to two additional hours after the sitting concludes.
  • Ability to work extra days and longer hours during Budget proceedings.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience using desktop software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat Pro, as well as file management systems (eg Objective).
  • Advanced word processing skills, including document conversion, scanning, electronic messaging, information retrieval and secure electronic archiving.
  • Sound knowledge of English language and its usage.
  • Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • High levels of tact, discretion and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
