Are you passionate about librarianship, digital collections and discovery, and delivering high-quality research support? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, knowledge-driven environment?

Queensland Parliament is seeking an experienced and motivated Collections Librarian to join the Parliamentary Library team. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining digital collections, managing information systems, and supporting Members and stakeholders with timely, reliable information services.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic legislative environment where your expertise helps inform decision-making and supports the democratic process.

The role is classified at PO2, with eligibility to progress to PO3 in accordance with the Queensland Parliamentary Service Award 2015, subject to meeting specified criteria.

This is a temporary 12-month, part-time role (2 days per week), with the possibility of extension.

Key Objectives

  • Maintain accessible, relevant and high-quality digital and physical collections including electronic subscriptions.
  • Support the delivery of client-focused information services and databases.
  • Contribute to the Library's strategic and operational goals as an active team member.

Your Role

  • Assist in delivering high-quality library and information services in a legislative environment.
  • Build and maintain digital databases by acquiring, cataloguing and managing a wide range of resources, including books, serials, and digital media.
  • Support daily library operations, including reference services and administration of information management systems.
  • Undertake media monitoring activities, including selecting, editing and abstracting TV and radio content.
  • Deliver customised alert services and respond to client enquiries, often within tight timeframes.
  • Contribute to client training, presentations and promotion of library services.
  • Assist in developing policies, processes and procedures for collection services.
  • Participate in projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

  • A recognised Library qualification (mandatory).
  • Experience managing library collections in both physical and digital formats.
  • Strong knowledge of information systems and technologies supporting access and discovery.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and client service skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team while managing competing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of parliamentary processes or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
