Are you seeking an opportunity to build upon your communication, organisational and administrative skills while supporting your local community?  

An exciting opportunity is available for an Assistant Electorate Officer to join a busy electorate office team. Working closely with the Member and Electorate Officer, you will play a key role in supporting constituents, coordinating community engagement activities, and delivering communications on behalf of the Member.

This is an office-based role with a strong communications focus, offering the opportunity to develop engaging content, manage communication channels, build connections across the community, and contribute to meaningful outcomes for constituents. You will also play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the electorate office.

Key objectives

  • Provide high-quality support to constituents through responsive enquiry management.
  • Assist in delivering the Member's communication and community engagement activities.
  • Support the effective operation of the electorate office through administrative and organisational assistance.

Your role

  • Liaise with and manage enquiries from constituents, groups and organisations via phone, email, mail and face-to-face interactions
  • Assist with preparing a range of materials to support the Member's parliamentary responsibilities
  • Assist with organising and attending community events and stakeholder engagements
  • Maintain office systems, records, databases and other administrative processes
  • Support the Electorate Officer

Additional responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate approved communication content, including social media posts, media releases, newsletters, and constituent correspondence
  • Assisting with the delivery of the Members communication strategy, including content development and distribution
  • Monitor and respond to constituent feedback through approved communication channels

What We're Looking For

  • Strong written communication skills, with experience drafting content for a variety of stakeholders
  • Digital literacy and computer skills, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage professionally with a diverse range of people
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to the Parliamentary Service values of Innovation, Learning, Integrity, Clients, and People.
  • Experience managing social media content and communications activities will be highly regarded.
