Queensland Parliament is seeking an enthusiastic and professional Parliamentary Attendant (Chamber and Tours) to join our Chamber and Education Services team. In this role, you will conduct tours for school groups and visitors, provide support during Parliamentary sittings, and assist with administrative activities that support parliamentary education and engagement.

You will play an important role in helping visitors connect with the history, processes and significance of Queensland Parliament while contributing to the delivery of chamber and visitor services at the heart of Queensland's democracy.

We currently have two part-time opportunities available, with one position working 2 days per week (0.4 FTE) and the other 3 days per week (0.6 FTE).

Key Objectives

  • Provide effective support services within the Legislative Assembly Chamber.
  • Deliver engaging and informative tours for public and school visitors.
  • Support the Parliamentary Education and Liaison Team through administrative and operational assistance.

Your Role

  • Provide support services in the Legislative Assembly Chamber during Parliamentary sittings.
  • Conduct informative tours of the Parliamentary precinct for school groups, members of the public and special interest groups.
  • Deliver educational tours that include interactive learning activities.
  • Provide administrative support to the Parliamentary Education and Liaison Team.
  • Assist with other Parliamentary Services projects and activities as directed.
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality chamber, education and visitor services.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain professional service standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to engage confidently and professionally with visitors and a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Confidence in presenting information and delivering guided tours for members of the public and school groups.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage a structured daily schedule and take responsibility for completing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Confidence working within a routine environment while maintaining a consistently high standard of service delivery.
  • Sound administrative and computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • A professional approach, attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • A genuine interest in parliamentary processes, civics and community engagement and the ability to represent Queensland Parliament positively at all times.
  • Experience in retail, visitor services, hospitality, tourism or other customer-focused environments will be highly regarded.
