Nigel Hutton MP, State Member for Keppel, is seeking two motivated, digitally savvy part‑time Assistant Electorate Officers to join the Keppel Electorate Office. Working a 9‑day fortnight or 4‑day week, you will support the Member's community work. Ideal candidates are community‑minded, organised, creative, and confident with digital tools.

Two positions are available: Communications Role: Leads office communications, manages social media and media releases, engages with constituents, supports events, and provides administrative support.
Constituent Role: Assists people in the Keppel electorate with enquiries (written, phone, email) and liaises with ministers, departments, and stakeholders to help resolve matters.

Communications Lead – Key Responsibilities

  • Lead digital and traditional communications: strategy, planning, content creation, scheduling, and community engagement aligned with the Member's priorities.
  • Build relationships with media and community groups; organise and attend events; conduct outreach.
  • Support local and statewide campaigns.
  • Provide high‑quality secretarial and administrative support.
  • Undertake other duties as required.

Communications Lead – What We're Looking For

  • Experience designing/managing digital platforms, delivering communication strategies, and working with media and stakeholders.
  • Skills with digital marketing tools (MailChimp, Canva, Adobe) desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong follow‑through on enquiries.
  • Ability to work collaboratively under time constraints with minimal supervision.
  • High professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.
  • Political experience preferred but not essential; interest in the local political environment required.

Constituency Lead – Key Responsibilities

  • Lead receipt, triage, and coordination of constituent enquiries (written, phone, email).
  • Manage data entry and databases to maintain accurate information.
  • Research and draft material for the Member.
  • Work with parliamentary offices, government departments, stakeholders, and colleagues on complex cases.
  • Act as first point of contact for office visitors.
  • Undertake other duties as required.

Constituency Lead – What We're Looking For

  • Exceptional ability to engage and communicate with diverse people.
  • Excellent oral and written communication with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven research skills and ability to interpret complex material.
  • Advanced computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database management).
  • Ability to understand and interpret government policy and legislation.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills, able to prioritise multiple tasks.
  • High professionalism, confidentiality, emotional intelligence, and maturity, including supporting distressed members of the public.
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of Queensland politics and current affairs beneficial but not essential.
