About the role
This role leads the implementation and ongoing management of TEQ's internal payroll model, including systems, processes, controls and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with the Certified Agreement, internal policies and Queensland Government requirements.
The role is accountable for the end to end fortnightly payroll for domestic and international employees, statutory reporting, reconciliations, and the ongoing assurance of payroll data and controls. This is a critical to ensuring employee confidence, regulatory compliance and strong financial governance across all payroll related activities.
This permanent part time role is three days per week (22.8 hours), scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, with flexibility to work an additional day if operational needs require.
Key duties
• Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of TEQ's internal payroll operating model, systems and controls.
• Deliver accurate, end to end fortnightly payroll for domestic and international employees.
• Audit, validate and maintain payroll systems and data to ensure compliance with agreements, legislation and government directives.
• Manage statutory reporting, payroll reconciliations, provisions and balance sheet integrity.
• Partner with Finance, People & Leadership, IT and external providers to ensure strong payroll governance and assurance.
• Provide expert payroll advice and responsive support to employees, stakeholders and auditors.

Desired Skills and Experience
For this role, we will consider your:
• Experience delivering end to end payroll in a medium to large organisation, with strong governance and risk controls.
• Capability leading payroll transition or implementation projects, including moving payroll in house.
• Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including PAYG, superannuation, STP, payroll tax and certified agreements.
• Experience auditing payroll systems, validating data accuracy, and managing reconciliations and leave liabilities.
• High attention to detail with strong analytical, problem solving and time management skills in deadline driven environments.
• Ability to build trusted relationships and communicate effectively with staff, auditors, providers and stakeholders.
