Apply broad problem solving skills of clinical, scientific and logistical nature to ensure continuity of service to meet the requirements of the SCHHS.

Contribute to and participate in  diagnostic testing and related duties following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional, legislative, administrative and ethical standards, ensuring that the laboratory service meets  National Association of Testing Authorities and International Standardisation Organisation (NATA/ISO) accreditation/certification requirements as per District health service.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in the delivery of scientific judgement within a multidisciplinary laboratory.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to a multidisciplinary service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.
  • Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification. 

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

  • The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) formal qualification (s) in medical laboratory science.
  • Shift conditions (will be required to work a rotating roster of day, evening and night shifts over a 7 day period).
  • If applicable, the successful applicant may be entitled to an Attraction Incentive payment under the following scheme: Attraction incentives | Healthy Careers - Queensland Health
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification.  Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties
