Seeking the best suited applicant with the desired experience and knowledge and personal skills to deliver a 24hr pathology service to the HHS by participating in and supervising a team of multi-skilled scientist working on the continuous shift roster. This role reports directly to the GLM.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Clinical expertise: Demonstrated clinical expertise across multi-skilled disciplines in Pathology required in a 24hr shift setting.
- Clinical ability: Demonstrated ability to manage a variety of situations that require complex problem solving skills.
- Leadership skills: Ability to build, develop and manage a small team using contemporary leadership Skills.
- Team capability: Ability to develop and implement quality improvement activities in accordance with NATA and ISO requirements.
- Team participation: Demonstrated ability to work as part of and lead a small team to achieve KPI's that can be measured and reported upon using contemporary methods.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or equivalent is essential.
- Management qualifications will be highly regarded.
- The laboratory delivers a 7-day a week/24 hour service. You will be required to take part in a 24-hour continuous shift roster, and will work a combination of day, afternoon and overnight shifts within each fortnight, inclusive of weekends and public holidays.
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
- Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.

Vaccine Preventable Disease requirements
- It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
- Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
- Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, department to a HHS, or HHS to department).
