As the Senior Scientist Transfusion, you will perform routine laboratory scientific and technical tasks of increasing complexity by applying established methods and procedures. You will apply the appropriate level of knowledge, expertise and experience in the independent resolution of problem solving on a day to day basis in the analysis of patient specimens.
What you'll do
- Apply advanced scientific judgement combined with integrated evidence-based practice to make complex scientific decisions in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of high-level advice to clinical units in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
- Work with independence and professionalism, and demonstrate high level problem-solving skills, commensurate with level of experience.
- Plan and lead quality and service improvement activities within the work unit.
- Assist with the supervision of diagnostic testing and related duties following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards within Transfusion in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
About you
We are searching for someone who:
- Demonstrated high level of knowledge and skill in the performance of Transfusion testing / investigations in a clinical pathology laboratory.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership ability and contribution to the professional development of others.
- Understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification.
- The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree qualification in Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent) from a recognised university or tertiary institution.
