About the role
As the Senior Lawyer, you will have several years of post qualification experience to assist with difficult and complex litigation. Your primary responsibilities encompass providing timely and high-quality legal advice and services that align with professional and public sector standards, legislative frameworks, and organisational policies. You will represent the Queensland Public Trustee (QPT) in various Courts and Tribunals as required, while maintaining direct engagement with customers, external lawyers, and organisations to ensure exceptional service delivery.
The role requires demonstrated expertise—or the ability to quickly develop skills—in areas such as property law, succession law, elder/disability law, and equity and trusts. Additionally, you will play a key role in supervising and mentoring lawyers and paralegals, adhering to professional and organisational standards.
In this position, you will enjoy a 36 ¼ hour work week, have access to training and excellent legal resources as well as mentoring and development from experienced lawyers.

About you
You are an experienced lawyer who can produce quality work, is technically sound and wishes to have exposure to a legal role within a public sector environment.
The following attributes are essential to your success in this role:
- Demonstrated experience in challenging and complex litigation, including high-stakes Probate, Succession, and Disability/Financial Administration cases.
- Proven experience in a law firm operating within a team of lawyers attending to reasonably higher volume of transactions with direct client contact
- Excellent communication and drafting skills
- Possess a strong sense of professionalism and ethics, with a can-do attitude
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency in building strong client relationships
- Demonstrates practical and client focused problem-solving skills.
