About the Role

As a Senior Policy Officer in the Strategy and Governance team at the QPT, you'll play a vital role in supporting strategic governance and public sector outcomes. Your responsibilities will be broad, engaging, and impactful, including:

  • Conducting research on strategic policy issues and undertaking policy analysis and development in alignment with QPT's strategic objectives
  • Interpreting legislation and policy to provide accurate and authoritative advice and recommendations
  • Preparing high-quality reports, briefings, and submissions for senior leadership and government stakeholders
  • Supporting Parliamentary and Cabinet related briefings and activities, annual reporting, budget submissions, and other planning obligations
  • Engaging and consulting with stakeholders across QPT and external government and stakeholder bodies
  • Managing incoming communications through shared inboxes and coordinating timely responses
  • Assisting with the governance and operation of internal boards and committees
  • Contributing to internal planning, project coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll bring a mix of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and collaborative spirit. We're looking for someone who can confidently navigate complex public sector environments and drive results. You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in public policy analysis and development
  • A strong ability to interpret and apply strategic policy, legislation and public sector frameworks
  • Excellent written communication skills with attention to detail and experience producing high-quality documents
  • Stakeholder engagement and consultation skills, with a collaborative and professional approach
  • A proactive mindset and confidence in managing competing priorities under pressure
  • Experience supporting governance or reporting functions within a government setting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities aligned with organisational strategy
  • High ethical standards, cultural capability, and a commitment to public service values.

While no mandatory qualifications are required, qualifications in law, public policy, or a related field will be highly regarded.
