Join our dynamic team as a Lawyer within the Corporate Legal Services team at the Office of the Official Solicitor to the Queensland Public Trustee (QPT)! The successful applicant will be an integral part of a medium sized legal team who provide property law services (primarily in the area of leasing). The team performs leasing and other property related transactional work on behalf of various Queensland Government departments, which is both high value and high volume, as well as providing property law services to the QPT. You will get to work with an experienced and supportive team, liaise directly with clients, and develop expertise in key legislation. If you enjoy leasing work, have a high level of productivity and attention to detail and you are looking for work life balance rarely found outside of government employment, then this role is perfect for you.

About the role

The Property Law and Leasing team sits within the Office of the Official Solicitor (Corporate Legal Services), which is a part of the Queensland Public Trustee (QPT).  The successful candidate will perform work as a PO2 Lawyer in the Property Law and Leasing team under the guidance of the Managing Lawyer, Property Law and Leasing. 

A contract for this role is offered until 30 October 2026, part-time (2 days per week – Wednesdays and Fridays), and focusses on PO2 level work that includes:

  • Primarily leasing work (the office performs leasing work on behalf of various Queensland Government departments, which is high value and high volume).
  • Miscellaneous property and commercial law work.

The role may also attend to other work (as required by the office) that can include:

  • Providing advice in relation to the discharge of the QPT's statutory functions.
  • Other legal tasks required to be performed at a PO2 level.

About you

We are seeking a motivated individual with practice experience in leasing and property law. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to build and maintain relationships, and a commitment to delivering high-quality legal services. They will also have a proactive approach and be ready to adapt to new challenges.

To excel in this role, the following attributes will be key to success:

  • Proficiency in property law, with a focus on Queensland law.
  • Ability to effectively engage and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to delivering superior legal services with a customer-focused approach, ensuring timely and effective resolution of legal issues.
  • A degree in Law or equivalent, with admission or eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland.
  • Eligibility for a current practicing certificate and entry in the High Court Register of Practitioners.
