The role
The Nurse Educator role, through advanced practice, designs, delivers and evaluates education for clinical staff in rural and remote Hospital and Health Services (HHS) facilities across Queensland, in conjunction with other members of the RSQ Rural and Remote portfolio team. The Nurse Educator provides nursing expertise related to educational best practice and actively encourages and facilitates clinical and professional learning using a variety of methods, including telehealth, to provide education across Queensland. The Nurse Educator works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to meet the education needs of staff in rural and remote settings in Queensland in addition to what is offered by HHS education teams. The RSQ Rural and Remote education team work and collaborate as part of the broader RSQ Education and Operational teams and support, lead and contribute to education programs and organisational initiatives across RSQ. RSQ is a 24/7 clinical service. This position will largely require Monday to Friday working hours, however occasional extended and weekend hours may be required.
Key responsibilities:
- Demonstrate advanced level skills and knowledge in the development and application of education programs, translating evidenced based and contemporary nursing education into practice
- Accountable for the development, implementation and evaluation of educational products that are in line with best clinical and educational practices
- Collaboratively promotes the use of telehealth technologies across Queensland Health rural and remote facilities in the provision of educational resources/activities to support nurses, midwives and other clinical staff
- Support staff in rural and remote contexts to identify and propose improvements to processes in local environments to support improved clinical care and workforce capacity building
- Assess educational needs, plan, implement and evaluate educational strategies to develop an evidence-based and contemporary product for rural/remote clinicians
About you
We are searching for someone who:
- Demonstrated extensive (greater than 5 years) Emergency, Intensive Care or Critical Care experience
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of contemporary nursing education and practice
Highly desirable
- Completion of post graduate qualification in Nursing/Clinical Education at a Graduate Diploma or Maters level
- Completion of a post graduate qualification in Emergency or Critical Care Nursing
- Experience working in rural and remote settings
- Experience with simulation based education activities
