The Para Pathways and Coach Advisor plays a key role in strengthening Para sport pathways and supporting the development of athletes and coaches across Queensland.

Working with athletes, coaches and key stakeholders, the role helps create inclusive opportunities for people with disability to participate in sport and progress toward high-performance pathways.

Through collaboration, coach development and athlete support, the position helps build sustainable pathways that enable athletes and coaches to realise their potential.

The QAS Para Unit identifies, develops and supports the next generation of Paralympic athletes while strengthening the systems, people and environments required for Para sport to thrive in Queensland.

This role focuses on connecting people, programs and opportunities to support athlete and coach development. Whether facilitating talent identification activities, assisting athletes through classification and sport selection processes, or contributing to coach development initiatives, the position helps ensure athletes and coaches have access to the right support, resources and opportunities at the right time.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to the development of a regional and South East Queensland Para coaches network, providing guidance, mentoring support and facilitating access to learning and development opportunities.
  • Support creation and delivery of inclusive, high-quality daily training environments that meet the needs of Para athletes and enable opportunities for pathway entry and progression.
  • Support the delivery of individual athlete performance planning and contribute to classification, testing and performance support processes to optimise athlete outcomes.
  • Deliver and support creation of Para athlete education sessions to support and empower developing Para athletes to navigate the demands of entering into high-performance sport.
  • Collaborate on identification, recruitment and transition initiatives of Para athletes, increasing the number and quality of athletes entering and progressing through the Para pathway.
