Join the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) as we work towards Brisbane 2032 and beyond, supporting Queensland athletes to achieve success on the world stage. This role is responsible for designing and delivering high-performance strength and conditioning programs that maximise the physical capabilities of nationally categorised athletes across QAS programs. In addition, you will provide leadership, mentoring and professional development to a team of Strength and Conditioning Coaches, driving excellence in athlete performance and high-performance service delivery.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide world-leading evidence-based strength and conditioning services to a QAS High Performance Athletics program, coaches and QAS categorised athletes in line with each athlete's Individual Athlete Performance Plan (IAPP), which is aligned with their What It Takes to Win (WITTW) framework.
  • Deliver specific and relevant performance testing and tracking/monitoring for QAS categorised athletes, providing timely feedback to the coaches, athletes and Performance Support team members.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary performance support team that creates a high-performance environment to provide an integrated program based on the level and needs of QAS-supported athletes. This includes spending an appropriate amount of time in the daily training environment (DTE) and attending weekly Performance Support team meetings.
  • Regularly liaise with key internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to Athletics Australia to collaboratively identify current sport-specific S&C trends to deliver high-quality integrated outcomes.
  • Lead and mentor S&C staff, support professional development, and contribute to applied research and knowledge sharing across the high-performance network.
  • Demonstrate high level responsibility for the application of agreed National Quality Assurance Standards relating to data collection, methods and equipment maintenance and utilise QAS-approved systems for athlete programming, monitoring, reporting and data management.
