The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) is seeking a Principal Testing Officer to join the NAPLAN Unit, on a fixed-term temporary, basis. The Principal Testing Officer is responsible for providing high level advice to senior managers on all aspects of NAPLAN tests, to contribute to test development and administration processes, and, where necessary contribute to other assessment-based activities.

What you will do

In the Principal Testing Officer role, you will:

  • Provide high level advice to senior officers on the development, management and implementation of NAPLAN tests and marking.
  • Design materials and present workshops, information sessions and training sessions on various aspects of test characteristics, test preparation and test administration, marking and the interpretation of and use of test results.
  • Contribute to the reviewing of test items and marking schemes for tests and provide feedback to all stakeholders.
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with other Principal Testing Officers and other staff to undertake projects (both state and national) and coordinate activities to support all aspects of the development and administration of NAPLAN tests.
  • Mentor and develop the capability of Senior Testing Officers.
  • Create and maintain productive and professional working relationships with clients, stakeholders, contractors and testing officers from other states
  • Analyse data to identify trends and key issues for stakeholders.
  • Participate in other administration tasks (e.g., Helpdesk support) in the testing events such as NAPLAN and External Assessment, as required by the Director.
