The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) is seeking a Senior Policy Officer to join our Policy Unit, on a permanent basis. The Senior Policy Officer provides strategic and operational policy advice and support to ensure QCAA’s strategic directions and decision-making are based on best practice and subject to continuous improvement.

What you will do

In the Senior Policy Officer role, you will:

  • Research, analyse and interpret policy and best practice governance, and formulate innovative and workable solutions and strategic advice to the Manager, Director and senior managers within the QCAA.
  • Demonstrate a sound general knowledge of social policy in Queensland and nationally.
  • Prepare comprehensive, accurate and timely deliverables, such as briefing notes, submissions, reports and correspondence.
  • Coordinate the development of a range of key deliverables for the QCAA, including planning, reporting and risk management frameworks; the development of corporate documents (e.g. strategic plans, annual reports and Service Delivery Statements); strategic governance arrangements and evaluations.
  • Demonstrate excellent written communication skills and experience in writing briefs and reports for internal and external audiences, consistently presenting advice in a clear, concise and articulate manner.
  • Exercise judgment to effectively manage competing priorities while working collaboratively with colleagues, or individually, to deliver products on time and to the expectations of clients.
  • Achieve a strong client service focus by establishing and maintaining collaborative partnerships and networks with team members, QCAA business units, other government agencies and education stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a positive and effective team culture by participating in work area goal setting, service improvement and other branch/divisional activities.
  • Undertake special projects and other duties as directed.
