The Queensland Family and Child Commission have an exciting new opportunity for a Practice Assurance and Development Manager, where you will provide high-level leadership and expertise to support the effective implementation of the Child Safe Organisations (CSO) framework across Queensland.

You will contribute to leading and managing practice assurance, regulatory oversight and sector capability to strengthen systems for organisations that work with children and young people.

You will also contribute to the regulatory functions of the Commission under the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 (CSO Act), including supporting the implementation of the National Principles for CSO and the Reportable Conduct Scheme.

Working in a complex regulatory and policy environment, you will provide strategic advice, undertake practice and quality assurance reviews, and collaborate with stakeholders to improve safeguarding capability, while driving a continuous practice development agenda to enhance employee capability within the CSO division.

This role may encounter sensitive and confidential information relating to the harm and death of children. In this role you will have the following responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Lead and coordinate practice assurance activities to assess organisational implementation of Child Safe Standards, including undertaking complex practice reviews, thematic assessments and regulatory analysis relating to child-safe organisational systems.
  • Identify emerging safeguarding risks, systemic issues and opportunities for improvement across regulated sectors utilising data, intelligence, evidence-based research and practice outcomes to drive a practice quality assurance agenda that develops employee capability against the key practice areas of the CSO framework.
  • Provide high-level advice to senior leadership on safeguarding practice, regulatory responses and improvement opportunities, that contribute to the maturity of regulatory frameworks, operational procedures and policy positions.
  • Promote cultural and child-safe oriented regulatory practices across the division and lead the Commission's annual audits and improvement plans to ensure that child safe standards are implemented to an exceptional standard, that builds trust across sectors and reputation of the Commission as a regulator.
  • Participate in complex case panels and act as the lead accountable officer for conducting formal internal reviews when requested by impacted parties.
  • Facilitate group supervision and debriefing with a vicarious trauma prevention focus and lead Community of Practice sessions with internal staff and external stakeholders that promote reflection, learning and continuous improvement.
