The QBCC is seeking a Manager for the Plumbing Investigations Unit and Pool Safety Unit. This role involves managing both units, proactively monitoring strategic performance, financial, operational, and human resource risks. The successful candidate will provide expert technical advice on plumbing and pool safety, ensuring compliance activities align with the QBCC’s policies, procedures, and values. They will strategically lead and manage the units, and support the Director of Compliance and Enforcement in developing and executing plans to meet key performance indicators for the Compliance and Enforcement Branch. This position plays a key role in ensuring a strong, safe, and sustainable industry by driving responsive regulatory activities to reduce risk and harm.

This role also involves supporting the Service Trades Unit, implementing policies and projects, and leading investigations related to plumbing and pool safety. Effective communication and negotiation with a wide range of stakeholders are essential, and you will be expected to represent the QBCC at meetings, conferences, and forums. The successful candidate will have proven management skills, strong case management and investigative abilities, and a demonstrated capacity to develop policies that ensure high-quality investigations. The position requires a collaborative approach to support the strategic direction of the QBCC and deliver exceptional customer service. The position is based in Brisbane, with the option to work from a regional office under a Flexible Work Arrangement. If based in a regional office, regular travel to the Brisbane office will be required (frequency to be determined with the successful candidate) to support operational needs.
