Goondiwindi State Primary School is seeking a reliable, motivated, and detail-oriented Cleaner to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and visitors. Working as part of our school support team, you will be responsible for a range of cleaning duties across classrooms, offices, amenities, and outdoor areas, ensuring facilities are maintained to a high standard. This position is a Temporary Part-Time role (0.79FTE), 60 hours per fortnight, until 11 December 2026 unless otherwise determined.

About our school:
Goondiwindi State Primary School is part of the Darling Downs South-West Region of Education Queensland. Our school provides state primary education for students in Goondiwindi Town area and the surrounding Queensland Shire of Waggamba. Goondiwindi is situated the junction of six national highways on the Queensland-NSW border four hours west of Brisbane. Goondiwindi State School has a long and proud tradition of providing high quality education to all students. About the Role:
Contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the site by providing a high level of cleaning support.
Ensure that the duties prescribed for the position are completed to an acceptable standard as determined by their supervisor, in accordance with the approved school cleaning program.
About You
You will be reliable, take pride in your work, have a strong eye for detail, and be committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. Previous cleaning experience is desirable. The role may involve a range of physical duties, including lifting, bending, prolonged periods of standing and walking, and accessing different areas of the school, including stairways.
Responsibilities:
- Clean classrooms, offices, toilets, sick bays, and common areas.
- Maintain floors through sweeping, vacuuming, buffing, and polishing.
- Dispose of rubbish and assist with litter control.
- Clean windows, furniture, fittings, and equipment.
- Remove graffiti and assist with general presentation of the school grounds.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with building security, including locking and unlocking facilities.
- Report maintenance, safety, and security concerns as required.
