About the Role
As Head of Special Education Services, you will join a collaborative leadership team working alongside the Principal, Head of Department - Curriculum, Guidance Officer and Business Manager to advance whole-school improvement and deliver strategic priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the inclusion support team across the school
- Facilitate the student support and wellbeing committee leading the actions arising to enact strategic change
- Build the capability of staff to effectively collect evidence against DDA for students on NCCD
- Formalise the process for collecting, storing and utilising data to drive student improvement
- Embed a multi-tiered system of support that considers students requiring intervention to drive student engagement
- Collaborate as part of the leadership team and support the strategic vision of the school
- Build the capability of staff through clearly aligning learning goals to curriculum outcomes
- Liaising with and coordinating the support of DoE and external providers offering services within the school
Skills:
- Ability to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to construct support plans to meet individual student needs
- Identify and support the needs of vulnerable children from diverse and complex backgrounds, including First Nations young persons and students with a disability.
- Knowledge and understanding of complex case management connected to trauma-based solutions for students and families
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate wholistic student support
- Ability to lead staff on all levels of the inclusion journey showing strength in a solutions-based approach to solving complex problems
- Ability to liaise with parents and student support networks delivering the messaging around the inclusion model at MCSS
