You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for administering the Pharmacy Business Ownership Act 2024 (Act).
As a newly established organisation, the Queensland Pharmacy Business Ownership Council (Council) offers a dynamic and fast paced environment that will require adaptability, responsiveness and a proactive mindset.
The Manager, Licensing and Compliance is responsible for leading and managing a team to administer the licensing scheme for pharmacy business ownership in Queensland in a ‘start up' environment. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of collaborative, educative and risk-based compliance monitoring and enforcement programs.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing a small team to administer large volumes of applications for pharmacy business licences, ensuring processes are conducted in accordance with relevant legislation, delegations, policies and procedures
- Supporting the review of complex applications, promptly and accurately, in accordance with the Council's policies, processes and the requirements of the legislation
- Making recommendations to the Director, Licensing and Compliance on matters arising from licence applications and exercising delegated legislative decision-making functions as required
- Managing the preparation of clear, accurate and compliant written documents to support decision-making and application processes.
The successful person
To be successful in this position, you will have demonstrated experience in a complex regulatory and licensing environment with the ability to undertake complex decision-making.
You will have excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to enable effective interaction with stakeholders at all levels and provide quality written reports, decisions and advice.
You will also have proven experience managing teams, including people, resources, processes and systems, and a demonstrated capacity to create an environment of business improvement, adaptability and high performance.
While not essential, a relevant qualification (e.g. law) would be well regarded.
About us
The Act establishes the Council as a statutory body responsible for overseeing a modern and effective licensing framework for over 1300 pharmacy businesses, promoting the professional, safe and competent provision of pharmacy services.
