The Role
As part of a multidisciplinary team administering the Pharmacy Business Ownership Act 2024 (Act), the Director, Strategic Engagement and Council Operations plays a pivotal role in the Council's Leadership Team, acting as a strategic advisor to the Council and CEO.

  • Develop and implement the Council's communications and stakeholder engagement strategy using best practice approaches.
  • Provide high-level support to the Chair and CEO, including managing the Council's meeting agenda, offering policy, integrity, and governance advice, and overseeing the secretariat function.
  • Develop and maintain robust conflict of interest procedures and liaise with the Office of the Integrity Commissioner as needed.
  • Interpret and advise on statutory and administrative compliance requirements, and develop supporting policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the development of the Council's annual report, strategic and operational plans, and other key policies.
  • Manage the Council's risk management framework, ensuring robust procedures to identify and mitigate risks in line with legislative obligations.

The Successful Person
The ideal candidate will be a highly accomplished and strategic leader with:

  • Sophisticated understanding of governance, risk management, and strategic planning.
  • Strong judgement, resilience, and the ability to balance competing priorities while focusing on long-term outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to engage confidently with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, industry representatives, senior executives, and governing boards.
  • A strong track record of providing high-level strategic advice on complex policy, governance, and stakeholder matters.
  • Adaptability and a solutions-focused approach to thrive in dynamic environments and foster collaborative partnerships.
  • While not essential, a relevant qualification (e.g., communications, strategic planning) is highly regarded.

Benefits
