Biomedical Technician Cadet

BTS provides a comprehensive health technology management, service and support capability to Hospital and Health Services and other parts of Queensland Health through the state-wide delivery of biomedical engineering, diagnostic medical physics, and radiology support services. In this role you will perform a wide range of technical support activities and on the job skills development while engaged in formal part-time tertiary studies to obtain an approved Advanced Diploma or Associated Degree in Engineering qualification. Upon successful completion of studies, you will progress to the position of Biomedical Technician.

What you'll do
- Successfully complete educational and practical requirements within the term of the cadetship (nominal 4 years, though extensions may be granted at the discretion of the Executive Director, Biomedical Technology Services (BTS). Failure to meet these objectives will result in termination of employment.
- Perform general technical support activities which may include: Receipting and delivery of health technology equipment; Equipment packing and dispatch; Management of: parts, consumables, test equipment and technical manuals; Data entry and checking; Telephone answering and client service; Miscellaneous assistance as required.
- Work cooperatively and effectively in a multidisciplinary team, while actively supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
- Develop skills and knowledge in, and participate in, the delivery of technical services including equipment repairs, planned maintenance, installations, commissioning, manufacturing and other health technology support services.
About you
We are searching for someone who:
- Is enrolled or eligible to enrol in approved educational and/or training programs, for example: Associate Degree of Electrical Engineering or Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering or Advanced Diploma of Biomedical Engineering such that the course is completed within timeframe of the cadetship.
- Ability to gain knowledge and skills in the maintenance, installation and technical support of health technology equipment and systems, including information systems and networks
- Ability to work as a team member to achieve goals and objectives.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and to resolve problems.
- Ability to analyse and solve problems by drawing on knowledge and applying logical thought processes.
