What you'll do

As a Scientist Haematology, you will undertake diagnostic testing and related duties following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards within a single or multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards. You will solve scientific problems regarding equipment, procedures, tasks, assays and apply professional judgement to complex clinical caseload with clinical practice supervision. In addition, you will work cooperatively and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

About you

We are searching for someone who:

  • Holds a relevant degree (Medical Laboratory Science) in science or equivalent from a recognised university or tertiary institution.
  • Availability to work a 24/7 roster including weekends.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to perform simple to complex haematological investigations.
  • Has the ability to efficiently prioritize specimens, perform tests accurately and efficiently without direct supervision and work independently towards the logical solution of scientific and technical problems.
  • Has the ability to work effectively as a member of a team and to communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff and colleagues.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the provision of a client-focussed and cost-effective laboratory service.
  • Demonstrates ability to contribute to the quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
