What you'll do 

As a Phlebotomist, you will be part of a specialised, highly motivated and dynamic team within Pathology Queensland. You will be responsible for the collection of high quality and cost-effective specimens to clients of Pathology Queensland as per documented protocols. You will ensure correct patient identification, labelling and collecting techniques are following and communicate clearly and respectfully with patients and colleagues.

About you

We are searching for someone who:

• Demonstrates experience or ability to acquire experience in the correct procedures of specimen collection including the application of established policies and guidelines with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge of standard precautions in dealing with patients and biological specimens.
• Has proven ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately.
• Has well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.
• Functions and work efficiently as a team member to achieve organisational goals.
• Prioritises inpatient and outpatient workloads to meet testing Turn Around Times and collection key performance indicators.
• Has knowledge or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations, pathology terminology and abbreviations, test names and specimen types.
• Demonstrates a high level of commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
