We are looking for a Transport & Despatch Officer to join Biomedical technology services (BTS). Help care for Queenslanders as part of a small logistics support team entering equipment tracking records, despatching, packing/unpacking of medical equipment and supplies and providing general transport and assistance.

What you'll do
- Receive, despatch and handle equipment (sometimes heavy and bulky) including packing, unpacking, organising couriers or postal services as appropriate.
- Enter equipment/consignment details as appropriate into BTS information systems, ensure that details are accurate and appropriately recorded, and perform basic information searches as required.
- Assist clients to locate equipment, record details of items accurately when being despatched.
- Collect urgent parts and supplies from locations within Brisbane and the wider Metropolitan area as necessary.
- Provide non-technical assistance to staff as required including driving, assistance with lifting and holding equipment in place for installation as requested. Note: this may involve travel to outside the Brisbane Metropolitan area.
- Perform general administration and other duties including but not limited to telephone answering, photocopying, shredding, stocktaking, and disassembling, moving furniture and other duties as directed.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- A “C” class driver's licence is required, and you will be required to drive Queensland Health vehicles as part of general duties.
- Ability to effectively use computer systems and basic keyboarding skills particularly for data entry.
- Ability to utilise appropriate materials for packaging to ensure as far as is practical the safety of items during transit whilst employing safe manual handling techniques.
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of customers and staff on matters relating to the administration and transport of equipment and supplies.
- Ability to identify opportunities for improvement, analyse and solve problems by drawing on knowledge and apply logical thought processes.
- Ability to actively participate in a team-working environment that supports quality human resource management practices supporting including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
