Pathology Queensland are looking for a Phlebotomist to join their team at Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Birtinya. In this role you will assist in the provision of a high quality, customer focussed pathology service by performing specimen collection and processing duties in the Sunshine Coast University Hospital Pathology Queensland Laboratory.

What you'll do
- Collection of diagnostic samples, including blood samples.
- General laboratory duties, including the receipt of specimens and the registration of requests into the laboratory information system (basic keyboard/data entry skills) and maintenance of the work area including cleaning and restocking of consumables.
- Comply with National Association of Testing Authorities and International Standardisation Organisation (NATA/ISO) accreditation/certification requirements including performing quality control procedures, assisting with preparation of procedure manuals and completion of relevant statistics.
- Comply with and utilise procedures, policies, regulations, and standards which impact upon the position including Queensland Health Code of Conduct, contemporary human resource management requirements and practices, such as workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination policy.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- Experience in the collection of diagnostic samples from a range of patients including children and babies.
- Demonstrated experience of the correct procedures for the performance of laboratory tests including processing and setting up techniques within the Pathology department.
- Proven ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal supervision after careful instruction.
- High level interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work productively in a team environment.
- Ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
