Pathology Queensland are looking for a Scientist Haematology to join the Haematology Department at Princess Alexandra Hospital. In this role you will provide a high-level service, based on an advanced level of knowledge and skills in Routine and Special Investigations Haematology (Flow Cytometry, Cellular Therapy lab and bone marrow processing) at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, a tertiary referral centre.

What you'll do
- Apply high level advice relating to the scientific aspects of flow cytometry, stem cell transplantation and routine haematology to medical staff and peers. This is achieved by high level technical and clinical competency and a thorough understanding of the process, process risks and sources of error/failure.
- Apply high level organisational ability including: attention to detail, coordination and management of multiple tasks, effective prioritisation; compliance with deadlines; evaluation and improvement of services; and effective performance reporting.
- Contribute to scientific research activities especially within the special investigation section of haematology, principally flow cytometry.
- Participate in validating procedures and equipment and applying scientific evidence that reinforces continuous improvement in the special investigations section to satisfy requirements for NATA accreditation, including document control and auditing.
- Utilise high level knowledge and scientific skills in exercising independent scientific judgement in problem solving and scientific management of all areas of haematology.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience in technical, scientific and clinical interpretative aspects of haematology in flow cytometry. Experience in haematology including morphology and automation and human progenitor stem cell cryopreservation is desirable but not essential.
- The ability to contribute to scientific research and teaching within flow cytometry and haematology.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as a member of a team and communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff and colleagues.
- Demonstrated commitment to the provision of a client focussed and cost-effective laboratory service.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to the quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification and NPAAC guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively and independently apply scientific knowledge to resolve problems./ flow cytometry.
- An appropriate Bachelor of Applied Science preferably Medical Laboratory Science degree. As this is a senior scientific position the incumbent must have considerable demonstrated high-level experience in a diagnostic clinical flow cytometry. Experience in hematology and /or Cellular therapy is desirable.
