In this role, you will undertake diagnostic testing and related duties following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards within a single or multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.

What you'll do

  • Independently solve scientific problems regarding equipment, procedures, tasks, assays and apply professional judgement to complex clinical caseload with clinical practice supervision.
  • Actively participate in a multidisciplinary team consisting of one or more technical domains providing support to the team, advice to peers, advice or reporting services to managers.
  • Ensure personal development of scientific knowledge and expertise by participating in Personal Development Plan reviews, active learning and professional development activities.

About you

We are searching for someone with:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to perform simple to complex haematological and transfusion investigations
  • Demonstrated ability to provide scientific advice to laboratory staff and Hospital and Health Service clients on a range of issues pertaining to Haematology and Transfusion.
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize specimens, perform tests accurately and efficiently without direct supervision and work independently towards the logical solution of scientific and technical problems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the provision of a client-focussed and cost-effective laboratory service.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.
  • A relevant degree (Medical Laboratory Science) in science or equivalent from a recognised university or tertiary institution. Degree must have units of Haematology and Transfusion.
  • Availability to work a 24/7 roster including weekends for the efficient running of the PAH Laboratory.
