About the Division

The Resilience and Recovery Division provides leadership, direction and advice to agencies and stakeholders to ensure Queensland's disaster recovery and resilience policies and programs reduce risk, increase resilience and improve preparedness for disasters.

About the Team

The Policy and Program Design team are responsible for delivering actions to improve the resilience of Queensland communities and facilitate locally led disaster recovery, coordinate Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) extraordinary funding packages and resilience funding programs, and help communities prepare for and recover from disasters.

About the Role

Develop disaster recovery and resilience policies and programs for Queensland that align with emerging national and international policy directions to strengthen disaster resilience and recovery.

  • Support the development and implementation of disaster recovery and resilience policy that aligns with national and international policy and emerging trends.
  • Provide accurate and timely advice to the Manager and Director, and key stakeholders on strategic policy in relation to resilience, risk reduction, and recovery policy.
  • Liaise with, provide advice and respond appropriately to internal and external stakeholders on matters that relate to the objectives across the team.
  • Provide project support across resilience and recovery policy, and funding programs to ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Undertake research, environmental scanning and analysis on cross-jurisdictional, national and international approaches to disaster recovery, resilience, risk reduction issues, seeking to identify emerging trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the preparation of complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, legislation, presentations, speeches, publications and correspondence.
  • Prepare timely and accurate briefings for executive leadership, partner agencies and state and national committees.
  • Participate in meetings, committees and interdepartmental working groups, as required.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders across the Policy and Program Design team to undertake secretariat duties such as the preparation of meeting agendas and distribution of minutes and action items.
  • Assist and support projects across the Policy and Program Design team to embed consistent program governance and assurance processes and systems across the team.
  • Provide project and administration support to the Director to ensure efficient delivery of project outcomes.
  • Undertake related and other duties of equivalent complexity as required.
  • This role reports to the Manager, Strategic Policy.
