About the Team
The Hazard and Risk unit leads the development of the disaster risk management approach in Queensland, by ensuring government and communities have access to scientifically informed, reliable hazard and risk information, management processes and products that is fit for purpose and supports integrated disaster risk reduction and management practice. The unit consists of Flood Risk Management, Geographical Information Systems and Disaster Risk Management teams.
About the Role
- Design, implement and monitor best practice communications and engagement strategies for multiple technical and non-technical flood risk management projects within the Flood Risk Management Package and Property Level Flood Information Portals.
- Produce communications collateral through a range of mediums that effectively and accurately tailor technical Flood Risk Management messaging to a range of audiences, including public facing material to support diverse communities to understand their flood risk.
- Lead extensive consultation and engagement with a range of internal and external stakeholders including Councils and other state agencies across Queensland ensuring highly productive and collaborative relationships are established and maintained.
- Inform communication and engagement opportunities by developing and maintaining an in depth understanding of QRA's Flood Risk Management programs of work and strategic priorities for Queensland.
- Procure and manage contracts where required to support deliverables for complex projects, particularly in relation to technical communications and engagement material.
- Undertake related project duties of equivalent complexity leveraging your communications and engagement expertise to the wider team as required.
- Represent the Flood Risk Management team in meetings and cross-agency forums at local, district and state level.
- Lead and model highly collaborative internal relationships through the sharing of knowledge, experience and reflections as part of a wider team of multi-disciplinary specialists.
- This role may lead or support leading a team and reports to the Manager, Flood Risk Management.
