About the Team

The Hazard and Risk unit leads the Queensland hazard and risk functions through collaborative partnerships, ensuring government and communities have access to scientifically informed, reliable hazard and risk information, policy and products to build stronger, safer and more resilient Queensland communities. The unit consists of Flood Risk Management, Geographical Information Systems and Hazards, Risk & Resilience teams.

  • Coordinate governance of the hazard and risk functions - including managing hazard and risk documentation, creation and maintenance of a library, manage content, refresh designs and work closely with corporate communications and content managers.
  • Engage with communities, building partnerships with stakeholders (e.g., local governments, agencies and professionals), and effectively communicating hazard and risk information and mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare reports, assessments, proposals, and documentation that summarise findings, recommendations, and progress on hazard and risk projects and initiatives.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of the international, national and state policy, legislative and delivery landscape in hazard and risk management and components of a risk assessment.
  • Represent QRA or the Manager at stakeholder meetings and events with relevant industry and organisations and incorporate learnings into team and divisional planning.
  • Lead and model highly collaborative relationships through the sharing of knowledge, experience and reflections as part of a wider team of multi-disciplinary specialists.
