About the Role
In this newly created role, you will lead the development, implementation, and management of a national disaster preparedness communications program - the National Get Ready Program. This role is critical in ensuring consistent, effective, and impactful messaging across jurisdictions while respecting the varying levels of maturity in disaster preparedness campaigns.
- Develop, implement and oversee a comprehensive communications strategy for the national disaster preparedness communications program.
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks to ensure program accountability, transparency, and alignment with national program objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies, non-government organisations, private sector partners and community groups across all jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align key messaging and program objectives, addressing challenges and resolving conflicts effectively.
- Work with jurisdictions at varying stages of maturity to support their disaster preparedness campaigns and ensure alignment with national messaging.
- Lead the development and execution of communication and marketing strategies to promote disaster preparedness.
- Oversee the creation and distribution of campaign materials, ensuring consistency with branding guidelines and national objectives.
- Manage sponsorship and advertising opportunities to maximise reach and impact.
- Ensure the application of branding principles across all program activities and materials.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of program websites and digital platforms to ensure accessibility, usability, and alignment with program goals. Leverage digital tools and analytics to enhance campaign effectiveness and reach.
- Plan and execute national events, workshops, conferences and meetings to promote disaster preparedness, and foster collaboration among stakeholders.
- Address and resolve complex issues, including managing stakeholders and navigating competing priorities.
- Negotiate outcomes that balance national objectives with jurisdictional needs and constraints.
- Travel nationally as required to engage with stakeholders, attend events and oversee program activities.
- Work independently, demonstrating initiative and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Manage a program budget, procurement processes and contracts ensuring financial accountability and value for money.
- Prepare high-quality evidence-based program reports, including progress updates, financial reports and impact assessments.
- Work with the Director, Marketing, Communications and Engagement to promote effective engagement and communications for the national program and its key stakeholders, taking accountability for supporting jurisdictional relationships.
