About the role

  • Provide Specialist Palliative Medicine medical services to inpatients and outpatients at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) and Metro North Health Service (MNHHS) through Internal Medicine Services.
  • This position provides a consultation-liaison service for all clinical inpatient units, ambulatory clinics as requested and dedicated specialist outpatient clinics at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and throughout the Metro North health district.
  • To provide undergraduate and post graduate teaching, research, quality assurance audits and continuing education are an integral part of the position.

  • Integrity – demonstrates sound decision quality, ensures accountability, demonstrates courage in the face of adversity and works effectively / manages complexity to ensure work output and decisions are ethical and invariably of a high standard
  • Proven high-level communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and support interdisciplinary care.
  • Ability and experience in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
  • Ability to initiate, foster and supervise research programs in the service.
  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement principles and practice, and experience in the development and implementation of successful initiatives in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of clinical services with a commitment to Palliative Care Outcomes Collaboration assessment.
  • Ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.
