About the role

  • Provide high level Occupational Therapy hand therapy services within the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
  • Deliver direct clinical services in the outpatient and acute hospital setting at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
  • There is a requirement to function to a high level within the multidisciplinary team and support the continuum of care through liaison with external hand therapy specialist providers to achieve optimal service delivery.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Apply high-level judgement, professional relationship, and clinical management skills to a complex and varied clinical caseload. Act as a reference point for other members of the Occupational Therapy team to facilitate clinical problem solving and decision making. Reach out to other members of the interprofessional team as required according to the knowledge, ability and skill that best addresses patient needs.
  • In collaboration with patients, their families/carers and the multidisciplinary team, integrate evidence based professional and clinical practice models, and clinical governance policies and procedures to support shared decision making, patient health and adherence to Occupational Therapy treatment recommendations.
  • Apply research and inquiry skills to challenges in practice and in collaboration with patients, their families/carers and the interprofessional team. Initiate, plan and evaluate both discipline specific and multidisciplinary research, and patient safety and quality service improvement activities to expand the knowledge base of the Occupational Therapy discipline and hand therapy service.
  • Monitor, measure and report on the use of Occupational Therapy data collection and evaluation tools.
