About the role
- To provide efficient pharmacy services that is aligned to organisational goals and legislative standards.
- To contribute to patient care by undertaking advanced clinical support tasks under the direct or indirect supervision of a pharmacist.
- Coordinate education and training activities for the Pharmacy Assistant team, under the direction of the Pharmacy Assistant Team Leaders.
- The Advanced Scope Pharmacy Assistant is recognised as part of the Pharmacy Assistant leadership team and works closely with other Advanced Scope Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacy Assistant Team Leadesr to provide support to a large and diverse team.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Obtain patient-specific information on medication use and clinical information for pharmacist assessment
- Participate in the supply, maintenance and review of ward pharmaceutical imprest stock
- Liaison with health care providers and community health providers such as community pharmacists, residential care facility staff and general practice, under the delegation of a pharmacist.
- Exercise a high degree of autonomy, initiative and judgment in assisting the provision of a pharmacy service by supporting the clinical pharmacist within a clinical unit and managing the facility requirements accordingly.
- Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, in a non-clinical capacity, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist conforming to current legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Utilise high level technical skills in preparing prescriptions for dispensation, including understanding of medicines and the legal requirements involved under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Participate in relevant department meetings and rosters including public holidays, weekends and extended hours.
