About the role
Three years with opportunity to extend a further two years and may continue as Staff Specialist permanently (role description also attached)
The Clinical Director of Obstetric Medicine will be accountable for the delivery of multi-disciplinary safe evidence based, patient centred obstetric medicine service as well as providing clinical services within Women's and Newborns Services. The Clinical Director will also be operationally responsible for the delivery of effective, innovative and provide fiscal oversight of obstetric medicine services at Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital. The role will also participate in quality programs, continuing education and career development of staff, clinical teaching within the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, and undertake and lead relevant Obstetric Medicine clinical research and translation.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to the Obstetric Medicine medical staff and Obstetric Medicine department, so that it delivers expected clinical, education, research and governance outcomes.
- Provide clinical care to inpatients and outpatients by participating in the Obstetric Medicine consultant roster, including after hours and on-call work.
- Ensure provision of safe, effective clinical services, review critical incidents, audit, peer review, organise and chair the unit morbidity and mortality meeting and handle compliments and complaints and provide medicolegal and coronial reports, including commenting on cases in other units, hospitals and HHSs.
- Provide professional leadership to the Obstetric Medicine consultants, advanced trainees and junior medical staff and ensure that their professional development needs are met and that their professional development plans are completed on schedule.
