About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to focus on delivering strategic workforce planning, demographic insights, succession and retention initiatives and talent identification and strategy development in Australia's largest Health Service. While also embedding our commitment to health equity and Closing the Gap, lived experience or expertise in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce strategies, equity, diversity and inclusion is essential.

This role complements the work of the Manager, Organisational Culture, the Manager Talent and Learning Solutions and the Manager, Capability, Engagement and Wellbeing, working collaboratively and partnering with the business to create a sustainable and future-ready workforce.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Provide strategic level expert advice and support to the Chief People & Culture Officer, People & Culture directors, and executive on the management, coordination and integration of Metro North-wide workforce planning, design, development and strategic human resource management that is orientated to addressing the demands of the future.
  • Improve workforce recruitment, representation and retention of team members within the equity group
  • Collate, interpret and report on data and statistics relevant to diversity and inclusion or our workforce.

It is expected that all Metro North Health staff, including the incumbent of this role as a valuable member of the Metro North workforce, contribute to the health equity agenda and meet the intent of supporting the defined six actions that specifically meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS), by actively supporting the elimination of racial discrimination and institutional racism; supporting increased access to health care; influencing the social, cultural and economic determinants of health; supporting the delivery of sustainable, culturally safe and responsive health services;  and recognise the importance of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations to design, deliver, monitor and review the health and support services we provide.
