About the role
Deliver high-quality clinical care to patients presenting to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Redcliffe Hospital within the granted Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) approved within Metro North Health (MNH).
The Redcliffe Hospital service will benefit from the involvement of a holistic person-centred GP viewpoint that can enable service improvement and enhance communication between Primary, Secondary & Tertiary care.
The primary objectives of the GP with Special Interest (GPwSI) model are as follows:
- To provide care to Metro North patients, within the Scope of Clinical Practice of a General Practitioner, as part of multi-disciplinary care team supported by Medical Specialists.
- To facilitate holistic patient care by utilising expertise, perspectives, and resources of practitioners from both primary and secondary care.
- The role will provide valuable GP expertise in surveillance of other medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity and mental health problems, but also lifestyle and general medical optimisation.
- The applicant will work within a team of specialist clinicians with access to public investigative and management resources.
- The GPwSI role will be fully supported by an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Senior Medical Officer (SMO) and will work under the line management of, and supported by, Specialist medical officers with appropriate clinical governance oversight by the relevant department. There will be opportunities for training, education and taking part in quality activities such as research, clinical audit, safety and service planning.
- Deliver high-quality outpatient services.
- Actively participate in quality activities including patient safety, clinical audit, research, and service planning activities for the Redcliffe Hospital Specialist Outpatient Department.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Record a thorough patient medical history for patients presenting to Gynaecology Department at Redcliffe Hospital.
- Where appropriate, perform a clinical examination and test for sexually transmitted infections (STI).
- Deliver appropriate high-quality management of patients and refer to other colleagues/services where clinically and professionally appropriate.
- Ensure policies, procedures and practices are consistent with contemporary best practice, RACGP, ACEM, ACRRM, Queensland and National standards.
- Perform duties as determined and directed by the Clinical Director.
- Implement and support clinical models of care and patient safety initiatives as required.
