About us:

The Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service delivers specialist care across Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast, Gladstone, Central Highlands, and Banana regions, supporting a population of over 250,000. With Rockhampton as the main hub—home to the Acute Adult Inpatient Unit and Adult Community Care Unit—the service administers the Mental Health Act 2016 and works closely with hospitals, primary care, and community providers to reduce symptoms of mental illness and support recovery.

About the role:

The Forensic Liaison Officer (FLO) provides expert coordination and oversight of care for patients subject to Forensic Orders, Treatment Support Orders, and other high-risk categories, in line with the Mental Health Act 2016 and relevant policies. Working closely with community and inpatient mental health services, government and non-government agencies, the FLO supports consistent, safe, and effective care. They also contribute to the statewide FLO Network and help build capacity within Hospital and Health Services to manage complex forensic mental health consumers.

About you:

  • Hold qualifications and registration with the appropriate registration authority to practice in any of the following:
    • Occupational Therapy
    • Psychology
    • Social Work
    • Registered Nurse (if applicable)
  • Demonstrated high level understanding of Queensland Mental Health Act 2016.
  • Demonstrated high level ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated high level proficiency in negotiation and consultation skills

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $164,212 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $66.85 - $72.58 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
