About us:

The Rockhampton Intensive Care Service is the only Intensive Care service in the CQHHS. A High Dependency Unit operates at the Gladstone Hospital.

The Intensive Care Unit offers a high standard of intensive care including complex multi-system life support. Rockhampton ICU offers mechanical ventilation, renal replacement therapy and invasive haemodynamic monitoring for extended periods of time as required by clinical need. Transfer of adult patients from the unit is due to the need for sub-specialist services not available at this facility.

Paediatric patients requiring high dependency care may be admitted to the unit for close observation and monitoring, this includes but is not limited to patients requiring High Flow Oxygen therapy, Bubble CPAP, invasive haemodynamic monitoring. Paediatric patients requiring intubation and ventilation are referred to Tertiary level hospital and transferred if requiring greater than 24hrs ventilation.

About the role:

  • It is the purpose of this role to demonstrate nursing competence in the provision of nursing care to inpatients whilst in the department.
  • The purpose of the role of RN for CQHHS is to provide holistic person-centred care and practice within an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Assumes accountability and responsibility for own actions and delegation of care to Enrolled Nurses (EN), Assistants in Nursing (AIN) and Healthcare Workers.
  • Demonstrates evidence of increasing autonomy and exercises greater levels of professional judgement in the clinical environment as the employee moves from a beginning to an experienced practitioner.
  • Provides nursing services within health service settings.

About you:

  • Current nursing registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Proven ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
  • Proven ability to provide clinical education and support and demonstrate own ongoing professional development.
  • Proven ability to lead activities required as part of contribution towards the CQHHS Nursing and Midwifery Professional Practice Model (PPM).
  • Proven Ability to critically think in relation to planning and responding to a potentially rapidly changing environment regarding safe patient centred care.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $121,106 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $41.73 - $53.53 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
