The Nurse Unit Manager of Emergency is a senior clinician and leader responsible for overseeing and coordinating nursing and related services within the clinical unit. They ensure the delivery of the highest quality patient care while adhering to national and professional standards. The NUM will oversee over 60 staff members as well as leading three work units across Rockhampton Hospital.

About us:

The Rockhampton Emergency Department is the hub of clinical activity for Acute and Emergency Care across the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service. This department provides clinical support across the district in the form of telephone and video-conference advice and review together with being integral in the appropriate and safe transfer of patients to and out of Rockhampton Hospital for diagnostic and ongoing clinical care needs. The Rockhampton Hospital Emergency Department has 17 treatment bays, a fast-track bay and a 12 bed Emergency Extended Care Unit.

The Emergency Department also provides short stay and acute assessment services in The Extended Emergency Care Unit which is a 12 bed unit co-located with the Rockhampton Hospital Emergency Department.

About the role:

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) Emergency is a senior level clinician and manager, accountable at an advanced level in the leading, directing and coordination of nursing and associated services within the clinical unit, providing the highest level of care to patients, while meeting national and professional standards.

About you:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current annual practising certificate are mandatory for this position.
  • While not mandatory, a post graduate qualification in emergency nursing, leadership and/or management will be considered highly desirable.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $164,212 is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $66.85 - $72.58 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
