Senior Staff Specialist/Staff Specialist - Anaesthesia

Join a supportive and growing Anaesthesia team at Rockhampton Hospital, the main referral hub for CQ. Working with the Director, you will help deliver safe, high quality services across a wide range of specialties including obstetrics, orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, ENT, ophthalmology and more.

The Hospital is a 305-bed facility with four operating theatres, two procedure rooms and an 8-bed ICU/HDU. The department is accredited for specialist training and supports a diverse group of trainees and junior doctors.

This is an excellent opportunity for newly qualified FANZCAs to consolidate a consultant role in a collaborative environment. Multiple positions – immediate start available. Relocation and Travel will be considered (Conditions Apply).

About us:

Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed referral facility and the largest hospital in Central Queensland. Our services continue to expand, including the newly established integrated cancer care centre, equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

The hospital features:

  • Four operating theatres and two procedure rooms
  • An 8-bed ICU/HDU
  • A comprehensive Anaesthesia Service supporting obstetrics, gynaecology, orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, and dental procedures
  • Preadmission clinic, acute pain service, and procedural sedation

The Department of Anaesthesia is:

  • Accredited for specialist training
  • Actively involved in teaching and research
  • Proud to support a diverse training program, including:
    • 4 Queensland Anaesthesia Rotational Training Scheme trainees
    • 1 College of Intensive Care Medicine trainee
    • 1 Rural Generalist trainee
    • 2 Principal House Officers
    • 2 Junior House Officers
    • 1 Acute Pain Service Nurse

About the role:

We're seeking passionate Anaesthetists to join Rockhampton Hospital's growing Anaesthesia Service. Working alongside the Director of Anaesthesia, you'll help deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality care to patients across Central Queensland.

As our services expand, we're looking for specialists—including newly qualified Fellows of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCAs)—who want to consolidate their consultant role in a supportive and collaborative environment.

About you:

  • MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
    • Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Anaesthesia with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA). In general, this will require Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA).
    • Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program of appropriate College.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $528,432 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary rate between $251,527 - $266,677 p.a. (L25-L27)
  • A salary rate between $210,332 - $244,313 p.a. (L18-L24)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
