Principal Workforce Safety and Wellbeing Advisor (Governance)

Play a vital role in the contribution to the effective development and delivery of professional work health, safety and wellbeing services provided by Workforce Safety and Wellbeing. As the Principal Workforce Safety and Wellbeing Advisor, you will lead a team which provides high-quality advice, governance and data management in relation to work health, safety and wellbeing while implementing and monitoring process innovation and continuous improvement solutions to manage safety management systems across CQHHS.

This role requires extensive knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety legislation, policies, standards and advanced knowledge of Department of Health Standards. About us:

CQ Health's Workforce Division plays an integral role in the effective management of the people resources for our service. The Division takes the lead role in the attraction, retention, learning and development, performance, discipline, change management, safety and well-being, and engagement of our most important asset - “our people”.

The Workforce Division Unit comprises approximately 40 human resource practitioners who provide a high quality, client focused and value adding human resource service to management and staff throughout the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CQHHS).  

About the role:

  • Provide leadership, management and supervision to Safety and Wellbeing Advisors including recruitment, mentoring, coaching, performance management, with an ongoing commitment to team effectiveness, efficiency, development and capability.
  • Manage the development and implementation of standardised WHS governance, framework and reporting tools, ensuring an integrated auditing, data management and reporting service that enables key safety indicators, identifies WHS issues and minimises the risk of injury or illness for staff across the health service.
  • Manage the development, implementation and monitoring of governance and compliance frameworks and activities, ensuring integrated management systems, auditing programs and reporting that contributes to driving health, safety and wellbeing performance outcomes.

About you:

While not mandatory, a relevant qualification would be well regarded.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of and demonstrated application of contemporary health, safety and wellbeing practices, legislation, standards and trends, including practical experience in developing and implementing governance systems, risk management, auditing, inspections and problem solving to identify risks and causative factors leading to flexible, responsive, client focused solution.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, manage and support a client focussed team capable of meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $148,323 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $61.20 - $65.56 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
