The Explosive Reserve Keeper provides a high level of support to the Manager, Bajool Explosive Reserve as well as supporting all staff at the Reserve.

About Us
RSHQ owns and operates the Bajool Explosive Reserve and is an integral part of the supply chain of explosives throughout Australia.
The RSHQ Bajool team operates in an ever changing work environment, with diverse duties varying from community obligations, to land maintenance and magazine keeping.

Key deliverables/responsibilities include:

  • Conduct the inspection and associated audits of explosives, transport, handling, products, containers and magazines at the Reserve in line with procedural and health and safety guidelines and regulations, including
    • Ensure compliance of all products inside of the magazines and conduct package, magazine container and vehicle inspections.
    • Pick and consign explosives products in accordance with legislation and policies.
    • Assist with the preparation, issuance, identification, reporting and following up of non-compliance as required to transport providers in relation to compliance issues.
    • Assist with stocktakes and assist with resolution of stock control issues.Ongoing high level security conscious activities at the Reserve and responsive emergency response activities.
    • Assist with induction and supervision of visitors to the Reserve.
  • Carry out maintenance of land, buildings, plant and equipment as required
  • Assist the Explosives Inspectorate to ensure compliance with the Explosives Act, Regulation, codes and standards
  • Conduct the disposal of unserviceable explosives in line with procedural and health and safety guidelines and regulations
  • Liaise with team members and reserve customers to coordinate delivery of efficient, effective and safe storage and handling of explosives at the Reserve
  • Act as the reserve's representative with customers where appropriate communicating health and safety procedures and business operations
  • Maintain quality control systems and procedures for preparing, tracking and coordinating reports, correspondence and financial records using departmental systems
  • Ensure documentation and financial transactions are timely and conducted in accordance with departmental standards
  • Provide input into the development of procedures and operational guidelines and policies
  • Receipt explosives products into Magazines from explosives transport companies.
  • Ensure that vehicle operations within the reserve in accordance with standards and procedures.
  • Data entry using the relevant system to record all incoming and outgoing explosives products.
  • Assist Reserve office staff with responding to phone enquiries for the reserve.
  • Participate in the Reserves on call roster after hours and on weekends when required.
