We are seeking a suitable person in our Training, Testing and Certification Centre, to undertake certification and assessment associated with the national and international certification of explosion protected equipment used hazardous areas.

Operating from within Simtars' Training, Testing and Certification Centre, you will be involved in undertaking testing, assessment, certifying and auditing activities associated with the national and international certification of explosion protected equipment used in underground coal mines and other hazardous industrial environments.

This will be a hands-on senior project management and customer focussed role in the Simtars Certification and Auditing section where attention to detail, clear communication, and a willingness to learn and collaborate will be required.

This role is advertised between the PO4 & PO5 pay scales. The level of remuneration will be dependent on the applicant's level of knowledge and experience as determined in the recruitment and selection process. For more information, please contact Geoff Barnier on (07) 3810 6399.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Overall management of explosion protection projects from initial client contact to ready for certification.
  • Provide high-level expertise in the principles and practices of explosion protection techniques.
  • Lead, plan and coordinate complex on-site quality and technical audits of manufacturing, repair and overhaul facilities for certification.
  • Schedule own daily work assignments to ensure that customer service requirements are met.
  • Consult, negotiate and maintain effective communication with all parties involved.
  • Deal with sensitive or confidential information in an appropriate manner.

You will need the following attributes:

  • Evidence that you possess a degree/qualification in Engineering or Science, or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Possession of a current and valid driver's licence.
  • Lead auditor qualifications in ISO 9001 as a minimum.
  • Knowledge and application of National Accreditation of Testing Authorities (NATA) and/or Australian Standard 9001 quality requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience in quality driven laboratories or industries.  J

To succeed in this position, you should possess:

  • Evidence that you have a high level of demonstrated and continuous experience with the testing and auditing of explosion protected equipment.
  • Proven ability to understand, communicate, and implement quality management standards related to certification and testing services.
  • Strong proficiency in NATA, IECEx and JASANZ accreditation schemes.
  • A current and valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel inter/intrastate.
